Storytelling as a way to grow
Learning how to quilt is a process
Same as all creative outlets in life.
Creativity, and therefore art, is a way to both expand your skills and to grow as a person.
That's why I focus my classes on joy, finding your own creative voice, meaning making and slowing down, talking you step by little step through the process of quilting. Quilting and creativity is not something you can do 'wrong', however it can feel like you're messing up when you focus on the outcome instead of the process and the story you want to share.
Sharing my process with Quilt Storytelling
That is also why, today, I share with you the video of my first live Quilt Storytelling event.
Because it's not perfect. And because it's still a beautiful story. The story came from the heart. So the fact that my story could have been told with deeper metaphors, more expression or a clearer structure doesn't matter. It came from the heart and was shared with the intention to share and connect.
I also share the video because I was terrified and did it anyway. Because that's how you get yourself at a place where you can do more and more scary things and bloom as the person you are: by taking the first step, no matter how small or big it is and keep going.
I also share this video because I want you to know that you can do anything you want.
Start with a small quilt and grow from there
It's all about starting small and keep on going. A quilt isn't made in a day, and a story isn't shared in one single evening.
The magic is in the process, and by sharing in openness and vulnerability.
Because sharing your story in openness and vulnerability with others will give them hope and the confidence to share their own story as well.
I'll keep on sharing the stories of my quilts and their magic
I am going to keep on telling the story of the magic of quilting. Not in perfection, but in openness, vulnerability and by sharing my story in any way I can, so others will also see what the magic of quilting can do for them.

-> What scares you, but is something you really want to do? Let me know in the comments.
