Here are the materials you will need to use:

Fabric scraps fitting the story you are telling
Template for the bird shape (draw your own!)
Fabric scissors or a rotary cutter
Weights
Sewing machine or hand sewing materials
Stuffing like pillow filling, batting leftovers, or tiny scraps

Steps to create the quilted bird soft toy:

Here are the steps on how to make this quilted bird soft toy:

Pick out the fabrics you want to use.
Create a patchwork from the fabrics you want to use
Cut out two body pieces, two wing pieces, and a beak piece out of the patchwork.
Quilt the body pieces with some stuffing to create an extra soft feel
Sew the two wing pieces and attach them to the body
Sew the beak pieces together
Pin the feet and the beak to a body part.
Pin the body parts together and sew them together. Make sure to leave open a part to turn the bird inside out
Turn the bird inside out and stuff it.
Sew the opening closed.
